# Subdomain Takeover Scanner

> CNAME X is a sophisticated subdomain takeover scanner.

## Overview

CNAME X is a sophisticated scanner designed to detect subdomain takeover vulnerabilities across more than 50 different technologies and platforms. It thoroughly analyzes DNS configurations and CNAME records to identify potential security risks.

Subdomain takeovers can lead to various security issues, including phishing attacks, data breaches, and reputational damage. These vulnerabilities are typically classified as medium severity, though their impact can vary depending on the specific context and potential exploitation. By utilizing CNAME X, you can proactively identify and mitigate these risks, enhancing your overall domain security posture.

## Usage Examples

You can specify a list of target domains for CNAME X to check for subdomain takeover vulnerabilities. Optionally, you may [configure any settings](/pentesting-tools/global-configuration) you'd like. Afterward, simply click on **Scan** to launch your scan.

Shortly after your scan has been launched, you will be redirected to the page to view your pending scan.

  You must provide a list of target domains to scan for vulnerabilities, not URLs. A few examples:

  Correct:
